Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Monday Sep, 7 marked the beginning of the Islamic Fintech week 2020. The event launched online on a virtual hosting platform and featured a day full of exciting sessions. The Deputy Finance Minister II of Malaysia YB Sahar Abdullah inaugurated the event delivering an opening speech noting his contentment to see the growing Islamic Ecosystem in Malaysia despite facing the COVID-19 pandemic. He added stating his firm support for the platform and the alignment of the event with the government initiatives to boost the growth of Islamic Fintech industry in Malaysia and around the world.
Following the inauguration, Chairman of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Datuk Wira Dr. HJ. Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff delivered a keynote stating the importance of having such platforms for the collective growth of the Islamic Fintech and his belief in the potential of the industry.
The inaugural IFW2020 offered a global line up of esteemed speakers and experts in finance from regions including Europe, southeast asia and the MENA region. Organised in collaboration by Elmangos ventures and Ethis, the event saw an incredible response as 1,900 participants tuned in from around the globe to listen to more than 65+ speakers and experts over the 4-day virtual conference in the varied sessions that included debates, panels, keynotes and roundtables, and more.
A welcoming note was delivered by IFW Co-chair, Founder & Director of Elmangos Ventures, Mr. Abd Elmohaimen Mansi and Ethis CEO, Umar Munshi stating the brilliance in experiencing such diversity and globality at the event and the alignment that this holds with goal of IFW2020 to be a platform for global stakeholders, regulators, tech startups and the Islamic finance fraternity to come together to jumpstart the expansion of Islamic fintech ecosystem.
