Kuala Lumpur, August, 8, 2020:

A promising arena with solutions to tackle issues arising from the current global predicament is Islamic Fintech. Intending to gather several best minds and prospective key players under one roof, Ethis and Elmangos Ventures are announcing their collaboration with key industry partners to organize the inaugural Islamic Fintech Week 2020 (IFW 2020), from August 25th-28th.

IFW 2020, which will be a virtual event, has the goal of shaping the collective future of Islamic Fintech in the digital economy. This will be achieved mainly through various discussions on issues, ranging from sustainability and financial inclusion to shariah compliance and future technology trends.

As IFW 2020’s lead sponsor, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) aims to accelerate a digital society, leading Malaysia to make the digital leap into the era of the fourth industry revolution (4 th IR)), and achieve shared prosperity for all. Since IFW 2020 is also taking place during the MDEC’s #SayaDigital movement period, MDEC will continue to support this event and build the ecosystem to expand Malaysia’s leadership in the Islamic Digital Economy, and firmly establish the country as the heart of digital ASEAN.

Hosting founders, investors, academics and industry experts, the week-long event will include keynote speeches, panel and  roundtable discussions as well as exciting debates to highlight the potential and future of Islamic Fintech. IFW 2020 will also serve as an exclusive platform to participate in investor-matching engagements and even showcase up-and-coming innovative fintech players.

The continued growth of Islamic Fintech requires stakeholders and entrepreneurs to stay abreast of current developments and seek newer innovative pathways to navigate these economic uncertainties. Most importantly, there needs to be a concerted effort to nurture collaboration and partnerships for rapid growth, encourage wider reach and empower inclusion. IFW 2020 promises to operate as the right platform to jumpstart and propel Islamic Fintech forward.

Founder & CEO of Islamic FinTech Alliance, Mr. Umar Munshi hopes to jump-start the growth of the Islamic Fintech simply by connecting the ecosystem over the course of the week: “The Islamic economy is exciting, yet challenging, because it is diverse and fragmented. It is thus key for the Islamic fintech universe to come together and build bridges at this early stage. Many of us already know each other, and through this event we will explore working together.”

Not limited by geographical boundaries, Mr. Abd Elmohaimen Mansi, Founder & Director of Elmangos Ventures, hopes for a true digital Islamic economy revolution driven by the people: “The adoption of Islamic fintech is already accelerating in a number of countries. We want to educate and enlighten the world about the real-world challenges Islamic fintech can solve and how it can make a meaningful contribution to the real economy.”
